Attic Insulation Photo Album: Upgrading Attic Space in Plymouth, MI
The homeowner explained that he had cellulose insulation installed over his existing batt insulation and the can light was never air sealed and covered. He noticed that in certain areas of the home the temperature was not consistent with the rest of the home. Can light covers were not air sealed wasting energy to the unconditioned attic. Baffles had not been installed prior to the cellulose being installed causing the soffits to be blocked with insulation. This previous install created a mold issue for our homeowner. Our biggest challenge was the sunroom for there wasn't attic access for our company to complete from the inside. Our customer coordinated with his roof contractor so when they removed the sheathing we could air seal and blow insulation in before hand. The homeowner now has a mold-free attic and has a better-insulated energy-efficient attic and is more comfortable year-round.
