Our customer had a Home health audit stating their home could use more insulation to help with the energy bills. Our company removed insulation, air sealed can light covers, top plates and all wire penetrations to ensure no heat was escaping into the attic. We blow in R60 for 17" TruSoft Cellulose Insulation.
Our customer had bats in his attic. Once the bats were all removed we went in and cleaned the attic. Removal of all insulation and new cellulose added once this attic was cleaned.
Removal of batt insulation and cleaning the mold to prepare for air seal and new cellulose insulation. Once that was completed we added R60 or 17" of new TruSoft Cellulose insulation.
The dormer is under insulated and can also serve as storage if correctly done. We used SiverGlo foam board to insulate. We also built a new floor for our customer to have additional storage.
Mold was found all over the roof sheathing trusses and insulation. The upstairs was around 10 degrees cooler than downstairs during our inspection in the winter. The problem was caused by high humidity in the attic being caused by lack of ventilation coming from the soffits as they blocked with insulation.
