Our customer called with issues of Ice Dam and wanted a fix for their home. The insulation levels were inconsistent and not to all the outer edges of the attic. After our inspection the homeowner decided to have us Insulate the attic space. Once all the insulation was removed, we air seal all wire and pipe penetrations and the top and bond plates. Once sealed, blown in Cellulose was done to a Energy Star Rating of R60 approximately 17" that will lower the energy bills as well as improve the overall comfort of the home.
Our homeowner called us after hearing what great care TCI Remediation takes in customer service and making sure our customers are satisfied with our home solution. After accessing this attic and walking threw an accomplish list our customer filled out our solution became reality. Removal of insulation, air sealing, adding can light covers and blow in TruSoft Cellulose Insulation is what our customer chose for their Home Energy Solution, and what a great choice.
The problem was caused be the soffit vents being blocked with fiberglass batt insulation that he had also installed but had pushed it too far into the eave, cutting off the air flow between the baffles and the roof deck.
This attic in New Hudson had a uneven amount of insulation. The dirty color comes from wind washing. This occurs when air from below levels is driven threw the homes walls and penetrations. This causes dirty insulation and shows how much heat loss happens in your conditioned space. We removed the insulation air sealed and add new TruSoft Cellulose insulation
The homeowner noticed every winter that he would get moisture on his wall in his living room where his vaulted ceiling vertical interior wall is exposed to the attic. The interior drywall would be covered in condensation every winter and cause streaks in the paint that the homeowner would then have to touch up every year.
